Located below the pub, our basement boasts a Dickensian warren of rooms and corridors, which takes its name (slightly ghoulishly) from our resident ghost.
Old Mary is a former mistress of the building’s one-time owner Lord Craven, and was found murdered in the scullery back in the 1800s. She’s said to still roam the rooms (perhaps searching for the perfect wine and cheese pairing!), and some of our guests claim to have even felt her sitting next to them.

Open to the public Thursday to Saturday, our character-filled basement wine bar is available for exclusive private hire ANY day of the week.
With it’s own bar and music system you can party to your hearts content with up to 100 guests, making it the perfect space for any occasion – no matter how big or small.

We have all-time classics such as Chablis, Minuty and The Chocolate Block, alongside some of our newfound favourites from unexpected regions.
Also on the list are two stunning Château Sainte Marguerite organic, natural wines which we’re sure will take the world by storm.
Sustainably sourced from British dairy farmers, our selection of cheeses range from soft and creamy, to tangy, crumbly blues.
Paired perfectly with crackers, chutneys and fresh grapes, our cheese selections are a feast to behold.
With the option for platters to share, or the chance to order each cheese weighed by the gram to create your own bespoke dish, we can cater for any intimate date night, friends catch up or big family party.
Also sustainably sourced from British farmers is our delectable cured meats collection.
Featuring Dorset coppa and Cobble Lane salami to name but a few, our charcuterie range has a whole host of meats, olives, pickles and more.

The Scullery is ideal for groups of 15 – 30 for a private event, and Old Mary’s exclusive hire is suitable for groups of 50 – 100 guests.
